How to Make a Birthday Card
Make your own handmade card ideas and see what fun and great creations you
can make. Below is one idea for a birthday card for friends who like
I started this birthday greeting card by......
...buying light green card-stock paper measuring 12 inches square (30.5cm square)
I cut out a birthday card measuring 12 inches by 6 inches
(30.5cm by 15cm) approx and folded the card in half so it measures 6
inches square (15cm square).
I found a design on my computer and printed it off on the
light green card saying "Happy 50th Birthday". I thought orange writing
would match the birthday card.
I cut two pieces of card, one in light green with the writing on and one slightly bigger in a darker green.
I glued the two together, then glued them onto the 50th birthday card.
For the actual design I bought a packet of gardening stickers and made my own design.
Inside the card I cut a piece of white paper 1/2 inch (1cm) smaller than the birthday card, and glued it to the inside of the card.
You can hand write your birthday wishes inside the card or you
can print your birthday greetings off the computer onto some white
paper. Cut the white paper to the measurements of the card. Glue it to
the inside of your birthday card.
How to Make a Gift Tag
This gift tag can be used on its own or as part of this greeting card.
I had some light green card-stock left over from my
birthday card, so I used it to make a gift tag to match the birthday
I printed birthday wishes onto the card. The measurements for the gift tag are 3 inches by 4 1/4 inches (7.5cm by 11cm) approx.
I had one sticker left from making the 50th birthday card, I used it decorate the gift tag.
I used a hole puncher to make a hole in the left hand corner of the gift tag, threaded some ribbon and tied a knot.
How to Make an Envelope
To make this matching square envelope, I used patterned paper and glued a square piece of white paper to the front. This is so the address is clearly visible. How to make a square envelope.
