Wrapping a gift basket in cellophane, whether it's clear or colored cellophane can be fun and exiting. It adds a professional touch and feel to your finished product. When the cellophane covers the basket you can see it come together. Stand back and be proud of your creation.

YOU HAVE THREE KINDS OF CELLOPHANE.

1. Cellophane Sheets.

Cellophane sheets comes on a roll and in a variety of colors. solid colors, with prints and also clear transparent cellophane, which most commercial gift baskets are wrapped in.

The cellophane's on the left above are well-suited for Valentine's, Christmas and a pink cellophane for a teenage girl maybe.

On the right above you have cellophane's for Birthday's, Easter and Weddings.

There are lots more available, just keep looking for different ones.

2. Cellophane Gift Bags.

Cellophane gift bags come in packets of 1 or 2, sizes vary from small, medium or large and also comes with printed pattens or transparent.

3. Cellophane Shrink Wrap.

Cellophane shrink wrap is also transparent and comes on a roll.

You can also use fabric to wrap your gift baskets in.

Be careful to buy the right cellophane for the job.

Choose the cellophane that is complimentary to the items and the occasion. For example, if you are making an Easter gift basket, use a cellophane with Easter prints on or if you are making a wedding gift basket use a cellophane with a wedding print on it. This makes your homemade gift basket stand out from the rest.

How To Wrap A Gift Basket in Cellophane

Things You need

1. Your basket with your chosen items nicely placed inside.

2. A roll of cellophane. (make sure it says transparent cellophane and not shrink wrap cellophane)

3. Scissors.

4. Thin adhesive tape.

5. Clear wide adhesive tape. (the one used for packing parcels)

Method

The cellophane I used for this gift basket is a Christmas cellophane. Which I thought would be different for a Christmas gift.

1. To measure the cellophane place your basket on the cellophane and bring one piece of cellophane up so you have 5 to 10 inches extra then cut the other end of cellophane that's on the roll the same length. When the two pieces meet at the top they should be the same length.

2. Cut a long piece of thin tape and put it to one side.

3. Gather all the cellophane in a bunch in one hand, pulling it from the top with the other hand making it quite tight around the basket.

If the basket has a handle, make sure this sits on the top. If it's without a handle make sure it sits on top of the items in the basket.

4. Once you have done that, get the long piece of thin tape you cut earlier and wrap the tape around the cellophane you are holding as tight as possible, (3 or 4 times). When you have secured it, it should not flop. (this might take a while ) If it dose flop start again.

5. You will have cellophane sticking out from both sides at the bottom of your basket. Neatly fold this vertically down the basket. Take your clear wide tape and tape it from the side to the underneath of your basket, so it's not visible.

6. Cut the excess cellophane at the top. Do not cut to short, leave about 5 to 10 inches. Now your basket is ready for a bow.
